Hello everybody!
If your reading that it's because I've given you the URL adress. So I think it should be interesting for you. By this way you can know more about my trip over the southest USA and have a good time (surely I'm going to post funny stories). So, let's start!
First of all, as you should have seen, I'm going to write in English. I think is better for me and better for you: both we're going to learn English. If you have any questions, please, contact me via email or via Facebook. Furthermore, I want to apologize for the mistakes that sure I'm going to do. It's not about writing a formal letter, but it's about gain fluency.
That story started two days ago, when I get the flight in Barcelona. I was flying for twelve hours to Miami International Airport and there I waited one more hour before getting the second flight to Gainesville. It's true! I have forgotten to say it: I'm staying in Gainesville, FL. First flight were so long, at the end I was really tired. But "no hay mal que por bien no venga": I met a polish-canadian man, born in 1938 who updated me about USA. It was a great experience.
Here, in Gainesville, Prof. L. K. was waiting for me, and we met. I also met Prof. L. K.'s husband, a great guy from Colombia which is helping me with the English, doing as translater. They're house is really amazing! It's ubicated in a full vegetation rounded neighborhood, where you see more fallen leafs than asphalt or "hormigón" (Google Translate says "concrete" but I'm not sure if it's right). There are many trees and all is full of grass. It's very beautiful. Returning to the house, it's very cozy. I have a nice room, with my own bathroom and a great bed. The house has a particular garden in the back side, with an incredible porch (suck as in the films: full wood built, with chairs, a table and also a rocker -sure I'm going to sit on with a shotgun waiting for intruders). I feel really like at home.
Today I've met Prof. L. K.'s fire lab crew. One of them will take me to a plof of experiments tomorrow. It's a University of Florida owned forest, used for researching and experience. It will be great.
The more I know about fire research in the USA, the more I love USA way-of-thinking (in scientific terms).
I think it's enough for the first post of the blog. Let my conclude with an interesting reflexion that I heard this morning, in a conference about John Muir: "the most important thing is to put LOVE in those things your doing: researching, experiencing, travelling, working,... If there's LOVE, there'll be interest and illusion and therefore, success".
See you soon,
David MERENCIANO.
